What is a Shoe Box Swap?

A Shoe Box Swap is a swap where you bring all the materials needed to make a cute project for each participant of the swap. Put all of the materials in a shoe box or other similar container. We all make each other’s projects and go home with a bundle of beautiful creations, great ideas, and new friends!

What are the guidelines for the swap?

Each project should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Your project should contain at least two layers and one embellishment. Make something you will be proud of! You can plan a 6x6 scrapbook page, card (full cards only), or a 3-D item.

Bring all inks, tools, embellishments, and paper products required to make your project. Everyone is responsible for bringing their own adhesive to complete the projects but if your card uses Glue Dots, Dimensionals or other specialty adhesive, you should include them with the supplies for your project. Make sure all paper is cut properly, and check and double check to make sure you don't forget anything that people will need to complete your project.

Please have all cardstock, ribbons, etc. scored/precut, and provide everything needed to stamp and assemble your project. If you are using a background stamp or a stamp with multiple colors, it may be a good idea to “pre-stamp” some of your pieces. This might be easier on your ink pad! Everyone will be responsible for bringing their own adhesive but if your project requires special adhesive, i.e., glue dots, two-way glue, you will need to provide that.

Label all of your personal hardware with your name or initials! The organizers cannot be held responsible for any items that are lost!

You also include a completed sample of your project to stay with your shoe box through the day. Include a sheet of instructions that includes a “recipe” for recreating your project. If your project requires a template, please include one for each participant.

Your projects must be left at the stations until everyone is finished. If you need to leave before everyone is finished, you can arrange to pick up your supplies from someone else who is staying longer.

What should I bring with me?

You will be responsible for bringing your own SNAIL Adhesive and two refills (or other adhesive and refills of your choice), a bone folder, Stampin’ Scrub (or other stamp scrubber), and Stampin’ Mist (or other stamp cleaner). Baby wipes will be available at the event.

Most events do not require you to bring scissors, paper trimmers, or or other tools. However, some shoe box events could have different requirements. Please be sure to carefully read the requirements for each shoe box swap when you register.

What is included in my registration fee?

Your registration fee goes towards space rental, a meal (generally lunch), and door prizes. Everyone in attendance is guaranteed to receive a door prize!!

Lunch will include a sub style sandwich, chips, cookie, and bottled water (also available through the day). You will have a choice for lunch at the time of registration.

Door prizes will be full of surprises! Without giving away all the fun, door prizes could include Stampin' Up! stamps, card/project kits, Designer Series Paper Samplers, and other fun prizes! The value of the door prizes will vary with a "grand" prize drawing at each event!

How can I expect the day to be organized?

Reistration will begin 30 minutes prior to the start of the event with stamping/scrapping beginning promptly at the event start time. We will continue stamping/scrapping until the event end time or until we finish all projects. The end time will be dependent on the number of participants we have at each event. Our meal will be brought in between 12:00 - 12:30 for lunch or 5:00 - 5:30 for dinner.

Door prize drawings will be made through the event with the grand prize drawing held as the last prize.
